Hampton Home’s of Distinction by Garth Chapman Queenslanders

Queenslanders have taken to the Hamptons with passion and fervour. And why wouldn’t they? Hamptons-style homes share many of the attributes that make the iconic Queenslander style home so unique. They share a timeless elegance that is unlikely to date, as evidenced by their continuing popularity.

Throughout this text, you will find the detailed features of Hampton’s styling that mimic or are similar to our Queenslander – especially a Garth Chapman Queenslander. Of course the Hamptons inspiration definitely has its own styling and I will detail it for you.

The French provincial and Noveau periods have heavily influenced the Hamptons style. Originating in New York’s upmarket suburbs, namely Hamptons Long Island, the Hampton’s home is impressive and aspirational. Homes in this market can sell for tens of millions of dollars. But that’s America!

In Australia, Garth Chapman Queenslanders have taken the key elements of the Hamptons home and incorporated them into our homes at more modest budgets. Our experience in these unique homes comes from decades of authentically crafting new Queenslander homes. In conjunction with our clients over many years we have integrated Hamptons styling of varying degrees into our Queenslanders. Check out the table below to understand why Garth Chapman Queenslanders will successfully design and construct your new Hamptons home:

COMPARISON OF HAMPTONS AND QUEENSLANDER DESIGN FEATURES

Design Features

Queenslanders
Exterior Features:
Cladding:
Weatherboard wall cladding – Hamptons is usually Linea cladding by Sycon. Queenslanders can be this or a chamferboard profile.
External Detailing
Both styles require accurate proportions, angles, and dynamic design to create an accurate look. Failure to get this right will result in the market discounting your home when you sell. Hamptons could be described as prettier with more detailing, Queenslanders more masculine but both require highly skilled design, carpentry, and painting teams to deliver a high quality finish.
Joinery Doors
Timber – often French doors or bifold doors, these openings connect the indoor with covered outdoor spaces. The Hamptons will feature more multi-light panels than the Queenslander.
Joinery Windows
Timber or combination of timber and aluminium. The Hamptons focus is on larger window openings with more multi-light panels than the simple Queenslander double hung window.
Roof
Multiple roof gables with decorative features.
Verandahs
Wide covered verandahs – these spaces provide fantastic covered entertaining areas, protecting inhabitants from the weather, and shading the home from the element. A key design element is to link the internal and external living areas for seamless entertaining.

The colour palette of the Hamptons home is strongly influenced by striking coastal features. White joinery and decorative features are de rigueur. From there tones of grey, duck egg blue, navy, and beige are common. Nautical themes and traditional stripes offer desirable alternatives.

The furnishings and interior decoration are very important in providing the finishing touches and really creating that sensational look. But I will leave you to the many images and information across the web for this.

Lighting fixtures in key areas, such as the kitchen and living areas, are paramount to capturing the essence of a Hampton’s interior. Strong pendants over benches, wall lights in hallways and lamps in living areas all enhance the look of these homes and their furnishings.

Hamptons homes by Garth Chapman Queenslanders are elegant, sophisticated, and timeless. Imbued with a luxurious feel the homes remain warm, casual, and cosy.
